As the Civil War was winding down in late 1864, the Confederacy felt it could force
a standoff by shattering the U.S. economy. How? By a state-of-the-art raiding
ship by the name of Shenandoah, whose mission it was to prowl the world’s
oceans and sink the Union’s merchant fleet.
A year later, the men of the Shenandoah were unaware that the war was over and
they were being hunted as pirates. Their fate would depend on how they
answered a single question.
Last Flag Down: The Epic Journey of the Last Confederate Warship is a story of
courage, nobility, and rare comradeship forged in the quest to achieve the
impossible.
